Sowing season is summer and Rabi, however it can be sown round the year under temperate climate. Best month for sowing is Jan-Feb., Sept. to Nov. Seed rate in summer is 15-20 kg and in winter is 10-15 kg/ha. Spacing of 20- 30 cm. in line to line. Farm yard manure 30-40 MT/Ha. NKP ratio of 100 : 50 : 50 gives goods yield. 8-10 irrigation at a interval of 6-7 days in summer and 10-15 days in winter may be sufficient.
Crop duration is 120-130 days and 6-8 cutting of leaves. Yield potential 110-125 Qtl green leaves and 10-15 Qtl seed/ha.
Yield is effected by high temperature, heavy rain, climatic condition, soil health, PH of water and pest and insect attack.
