French bean is grown in summer and kharif season. Extreme high and low temperature is unfavorable for crop. January to February and July to September is plain and September- November in south India is best time for sowing. 25- 30 ton of farm yard manure, 40:60:50 kg N:P:K /ha is recommended. Micronutrient as per soil test report should be used French bean respond to micronutrients.
Seed rate per ha is 50-75 kg for bush type whereas 25-30 kg for pole type varieties. Seed should be inoculated with Rhizobium strain and maintain appropriate spacing as per variety. 30x5 cm for bush type and 90x7.5 for pole type variety is recommended.
About 6-7 irrigation are needed at a appropriate intervals. Bush beans mature in 50 days with 2-3 picking 50-60 Qtl green bean yield/ ha whereas Pole type matures 60-75 days. 3-5 picking and 110-140 Qtl yield/ ha. However adverse climatic condition, rainfall, temperature, PH soil, insect pest and virus attack may adversely affect the yield.
